Copa America 2024 Final Man Of The Match

Argentina Wins Copa America Title with Extra-Time Goal

Lautaro Martinez's Winner Breaks 84-Year Drought

Messi Watches from the Sidelines as Argentina Claims Record 16th Title

In a thrilling Copa America final, Argentina defeated Colombia 1-0 in extra time to claim their second consecutive title and a record-breaking 16th overall. The match was decided by a dramatic goal from Lautaro Martinez in the 120th minute, breaking an 84-year drought of extra-time goals in the Copa America final.

The game was played in front of a sold-out crowd at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Argentina controlled much of the possession and created the better chances throughout the match. However, Colombia defended resolutely and managed to keep the score level at 0-0 after 90 minutes.

In extra time, Argentina continued to press forward and were rewarded for their perseverance when Martinez scored the winning goal. The Inter Milan striker received a pass from Angel Di Maria and fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net. The goal sparked wild celebrations from the Argentine players and fans, while Colombia were left heartbroken.

The victory was especially poignant for Lionel Messi, who was forced to watch much of the second half and extra time from the sidelines due to a leg injury. Despite not being able to play a full part in the match, Messi was still able to celebrate with his teammates and lift the Copa America trophy.
