Edmonton Oilers X Los Angeles Kings

Oilers, Kings Renew Rivalry at Moss Pit

Kopitar's Late Goal Gives L.A. 5-4 Win in Edmonton

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Anze Kopitar's late wrist shot proved to be the game-winner as the Los Angeles Kings rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night at Rogers Place.

Kings Claim First Win in Edmonton Since 2021

The win was the Kings' first in Edmonton since Nov. 17, 2021, and snapped a four-game losing streak to the Oilers. Kopitar, who now has six points in four games against Edmonton this season, broke a 4-4 tie with just over four minutes remaining in the game.

The Oilers had taken a 4-2 lead early in the third period on goals by Evander Kane and Zach Hyman, but the Kings responded with a power-play goal by Viktor Arvidsson and a tying goal by Gabriel Vilardi just over a minute later.

The Kings' victory was their third straight, and they now sit in second place in the Western Conference standings. The Oilers, meanwhile, have lost four of their last five games and are now third in the Pacific Division.

The two teams will meet again in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
